The 1970s:
1971 – Esther Merklinger retires as Organist after 16 years service. Mr. Paul Bergman is hired as Organist and Choir Director.
February 4, 1972 - The Schlicker organ was dedicated, and on May 11, 1975, chimes for the organ were dedicated.
January 1976 – Carol Weiberg was hired as church secretary. Prior to this, Ida Rogers, followed by Gerda Zonak, aided the pastor with such duties as creating the weekly bulletins, and other secretarial tasks. In September of 1976, Carol left to have a baby, and Willy Merklinger took over as secretary.
1979 – Mr. Paul Bergman retired as organist and Mr. John Goodall was hired. He continued to 1994.
The 1980s:
1981 - we collected $46,000 for the synodical offering, Forward in Remembrance, and in 1983 $42,000 was collected for the Building Fund of Concordia Seminary, St. Catharines.
1982 - Pastor Gerald Scholz was called to the Kitchener District Office. Over Pastor G.W. Scholz’s 18 years of ministry at Redeemer, seven men of the congregation decided to go into the holy ministry of the Lutheran church – Rev. Scott Murray, Rev. Glenn Schaefer, Rev. James Scholz, Rev. Gary Weber, Rev. Bill Stare, and Rev. Ralph Schmidt.
January 1983 - Rev. Bill Ney received the call to Redeemer and accepted. He remained as Pastor until 1987.
January 10, 1988 - Pastor Eric Vuornien accepted a call to Redeemer. He served the congregation until June 25, 2000.
February 1, 1988 - the first issue of Redeemer Reflections was published. It was a monthly publication informing the congregation on all aspects of parish life.
May 1988 - Pastor Vuorinen and Ross Merklinger represented our congregation at the Founding Convention of Lutheran Church-Canada in Winnipeg.
Early in 1989 our Young at Heart group was started.
January 1, 1989 - Lutheran Church-Canada became an indigenous Synod, a partner of the Missouri Synod.
December 1989 - the congregation voted to proceed with the proposed expansion of our facility. It would be called the Parish Activity Centre, and would take up much of the property including the garage and the ‘Swing Bowling- pit area.
