The War Years: 1939-1945
In 1942 an application was made to build the super structure, but because of the war, the permit was not granted. It would be 1950 before it was built.
During the ten years of Redeemer’s existence it enjoyed steady growth. On its fifth anniversary, the congregation had grown five-fold.
May 1, 1942 - The contract was let, at a cost of $7,800.00, to erect a parsonage.
October 25, 1942 - The parsonage was dedicated and occupied by Pastor Karl Kriesel four days later.
November 22, 1942 - Pastor Kriesel accepted a call to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania leaving the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer vacant.
November 24, 1942 - The first call was sent and returned, and on December 14, the second call was sent; this time to the Rev. Christian T. Wetzstein, Regina, Saskatchewan.
February 7, 1943 - Pastor C.T. Wetzstein was installed, the Rev. Albert Orzen officiating.
November 10, 1944 - Grace Lutheran Church was organized and served for 13 months by Pastor Wetzstein. Five families of Redeemer were transferred to Grace.
Post War Years: 1946-1949
June 23, 1946 - Six additional lots behind the church were purchased at a cost of $2000.00. Each was 40’x100’.
February 6, 1949 - Bethel Lutheran Church was organized and served by Pastor Wetzstein from 1949 to 1956. Again, five families were transferred to the newly organized congregation. German immigrants from fourteen different European regions joined together to become “Bethel Evangelisch Lutherische Kirche”.
September 24, 1949 - The congregation adopted the plans for the superstructure of Redeemer.
