Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, members of Redeemer—Waterloo,
With the announcement of Premier Doug Ford, that churches may open as of Friday, June 12th for public worship services to a capacity of 30% of maximum seating, the Elders of Redeemer and I met and talked with our custodian, Rod Whittington, and we will open up this Sunday, June 14th at 10:30 am for Matins! You are most welcome to come and attend live public worship in the sanctuary of our Lord Jesus once more!
The coronavirus that has kept us under home quarantine for these past 12 weeks is still out there, this is true, but every precaution is being taken by the Pastor and the Elders of our congregation so that we can return to public worship. Click here to see the new guidelines for returning to public worship.
First off, we will be asking everyone to wear a mask, either home made, or store bought. If you forget yours or haven’t gotten any yet, we will have some for you at the church.
Secondly, we will start with the Order of Matins for the first two Sundays back, Sunday June 14th and 21st, simply to get ourselves acquainted with being in the sanctuary together under the social distance parameters. This will require adjustments by all of us, so please extend much patience and grace as we ask old habits to be curbed for a time.
When Divine Services with Holy Communion starts up again, Sunday June 28th, the process for how we will do that will be explained in both a document form as well as a live demonstration after service on June 21st.
No one MUST return to public worship if you feel any apprehension or discomfort at any time! If anyone is not feeling well, we also ask them to please stay home for the well being of everyone else.
Dear people loved by God, Christ our Lord wants us to come into his presence so that we hear all the wonders He has done for us. He wants us to come in joy and gratitude for all that He won for us on Calvary, and for all the ways He continues to shower His blessings upon us in these days. At no time does He want us to live in fear; rather He wants us to come in Faith! He wants us to enter into His presence, firmly believing He has won our eternal salvation, coming to His House for the eternal safety of His Word and precious Sacraments!
So, please take your time! The Services will continue to be uploaded onto our website, but they will be uploaded after Sunday morning services are completed from now on. So please grant us patience as our dear Administrative Assistant, Courtney, continues to rework the videos and then upload the services. Likely they will not be up until Monday at the latest.
If anyone would like to schedule a private, controlled environment Home Communion, those can be arranged by calling or emailing the office or Pastor.
So, let us rejoice! At long last we can come together and enter with thanksgiving the Lord’s House for worship and praise! All glory be to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, our loving and merciful Lord now and forever!
In Christ’s service,
Rev Joel Kuhl, Pastor
and the Board of Elders of Redeemer
Dear Fellow Redeemed,
Our Lord Jesus Christ supplies us with our living breath now and into eternity. In His Church we receive the gifts of life: the washing of Holy Baptism, the precious Words of Absolution that envelop and enliven us when sins pull us down, and of course, the great blessing of Christ’s own body and blood in Holy Communion. We are washed, renewed, fed, and uplifted by our Lord Jesus... so much blessing we want and desire to respond with love and appreciation to the One who has given our very being to us.
This is why we give offerings. As Christians, we are not required to tithe as in the Old Testament days. We are free in Christ to give as we are able. For those who cannot give as much are under no compulsion to give, for our Lord Jesus only ever wants to be the One who gives life and grace to us! And for those who have been blessed by much, they can in turn bless others from their storehouses.
Your gifts to the Lord’s kingdom work is greatly appreciated. They keep the doors open, the House of the Lord in good order, the services running smoothly, and give us all a place to meet and support one another in any need.
During this time of Coronavirus COVID-19 crisis, the bills of the church still arrive, and if you are able to continue giving your gifts, they will go a long way to keeping everything running in order.
In Christ’s service,
Rev Joel V Kuhl, Pastor
