Blessings to all and warm greetings in the name of Jesus our own dear Lord and only Saviour: Have you ever noticed how much of a transition month August is in and around Redeemer? One loved and cherished Vicar and spouse depart for the Seminary and another arrives soon after with family in tow. Our hearts are sad and glad at the same time. We all have gained life long friends and we look towards making more. Plans are starting to be put together for the years ahead and people are constantly surprising the neighbourhood by showing up for worship each Sunday. I met a gentleman while doing my regular workout at the local gym I frequent. We have known each other for a while and he asked me “What are you doing at that place every Sunday, I hear so many happy people in your parking lot and on the streets around the place?” My answer was the same as I pray that yours would be; “Come and see, please come and see!” Sometimes reasons to celebrate are given by the Lord so close to us that we fail to notice. We have much to thank Him for and I know that we are all trying our best to do so. Please consider the following bullet points and add your prayers to mine that the Lord Jesus will continue to bless us. • Vacation Bible School proved to be a wonderful event again this year. Some children and even some parents have expressed real interest in what we do and how we do it. There is a strong possibility that we will have new little souls at our Sunday Morning Gang as well as our Pioneer Clubs at Tuesdays with a Twist. Our plans are being made and we solicit your prayers and your help for both these worthy God pleasing ministries. • Three people have expressed strong interest in running the Kitchen for Tuesday’s With A Twist. However they are reluctant to let their names or desire be known until one or two of their Redeemer brothers or sisters join them. Seems only fare to me. I know that you might be one to include yourself in this effort if you were certain that you did not have to do it alone and each and every week. Please contact me and we can get the ball rolling. • Wonderful donations have been provided for the Vicarage and still more are being offered. Let the office know what you can provide and Wayne Weiberg will make sure that it will be picked up at your place. Jennifer Norman has taken on the task of coordinating and positioning what has been provided throughout the home. There is a list elsewhere in this issue of Reflections and updates are provided each week in the bulletin. Please note that everything which you donate will stay at the Vicarage and be used for all Vicars and families through the years. This will also realize a savings for the Vicarage fund through the years. One wonders why we didn’t think of this sooner. • 2010 will be Redeemers 75th birthday. The Lay Ministers have begun the initial plans for a year of celebration. Just like everything else we do around this place we need willing and happy participants. Please contact Darryll or Mark if this will be an area of interest for you. Your job on this ad hoc committee will be complete in 2010 unless you sign up for the centennial celebration. • Short term help is needed for the welcoming of Vicar Dul and family August 17th. Vicar Dul will be inducted during the service that morning and as is our custom we will gather in the Activity Centre after worship to celebrate, eat and do again what we seem to do best be loving and friendly and hospitable. Call the office with your willingness to assist. That’s all I can think of for now. I am sure that the good Lord has much more in store for us and when I find out what it is I will let you know.
